IRMA MARIA SERAFINI
Daughter of João Francisco Serafini and Ilma Serafini.
Born into a humble family, from age 8 to 14 Irma used to play with mice, submitting these animals to experiments of injury recovery.
From age 15 to 19, she worked as a teacher for the first to the fourth grade at municipal schools in Romelândia and Chapecó, Santa Catarina state.
At 19 years old, she completed the course for nursing technician at the Santo Antônio de Chapecó and São Paulo de Xanxerê hospitals (Santa Catarina).
For extra money, she would sell beauty products, skin cleansing and repair creams.
At 21, she settled down in the city of Pinhalzinho, extreme west of Santa Catarina, as an autonomous worker.
As a self-taught person, she created the Massoprévent technique.

In 1998, she was nominated three times for the Fapergs (Foundation for Research Support of Rio Grande do Sul) award for outstanding research in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Irma´s 1st nomination was made by the Santa Cruz do Sul Rural Union. Mr. Adolfo Beckenkamp was the chairman at the time.
Her 2nd nomination for the 1998 Fapergs awards for outstanding researchers was made by Sindisaúde, Union of Nursing Practitioners.
The 3rd nomination was proposed by Aspumi: Municipal Servants´ Association of Igrejinha. The incumbent at the time was Mr. João Amauri Grass.

In 2002 and 2004, Irma gave lectures in the extension course of the Dentistry School, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Now Irma´s teachings are necessary for a diploma in this course.

4th National Dentistry Meeting On Infants - Interdisciplinary Multi-intervention in 1st Infancy, held in Caxias do Sul, RS, November 8-10, 2002.
5th Brazilian Congress of Homeopathy in Dentistry and 1st National Meeting of Complementary Therapies,held in Gramado, RS,on November 28-30, 2002.
